تھے خواب ایک ہمارے بھی اور تمہارے بھی
پر اپنا کھیل دکھاتے رہے ستارے بھی
یہ زندگی ہے یہاں اس طرح ہی ہوتا ہے
سبھی نے بوجھ سے لادے ہیں کچھ اتارے بھی
سوال یہ ہے کہ آپس میں ہم ملیں کیسے
ہمیشہ ساتھ تو چلتے ہیں دو کنارے بھی
کسی کا اپنا محبت میں کچھ نہیں ہوتا
کہ مشترک ہیں یہاں سود بھی خسارے بھی
بگاڑ پر ہے جو تنقید سب بجا لیکن
تمہارے حصے کے جو کام تھے سنوارے بھی
بڑے سکون سے ڈوبے تھے ڈوبنے والے
جو ساحلوں پہ کھڑے تھے بہت پکارے بھی
پہ جیسے ریل میں دو اجنبی مسافر ہوں
سفر میں ساتھ رہے یوں تو ہم تمہارے بھی
یہی سہی تری مرضی سمجھ نہ پائے ہم
خدا گواہ کہ مبہم تھے کچھ اشارے بھی
یہی تو ایک حوالہ ہے میرے ہونے کا
یہی گراتی ہے مجھ کو یہی اتارے بھی
اسی زمین میں اک دن مجھے بھی سونا ہے
اسی زمیں کی امانت ہیں میرے پیارے بھی
وہ اب جو دیکھ کے پہچانتے نہیں امجدؔ
ہے کل کی بات یہ لگتے تھے کچھ ہمارے بھی

Kisi ka apna mohabbat mein kuchh Nahin hota
Ke Mushtariq hai yahan sood bhi khasare bhi
Bigaad per hai jo Tankid sab Baja Lekin

Bade sukun se dube the dubne wale
Jo sahilon pe khade the bahut pukare bhi

हमारे लिए और आपके लिए एक सपना था
लेकिन सितारे भी अपना खेल दिखाते रहे
यहाँ जीवन का यही तरीका है
उन सभी ने कुछ लोड और अनलोड किया है
सवाल यह है कि हम कैसे मिलते हैं
दो किनारे हमेशा साथ चलते हैं
अपनों के प्यार में कुछ नहीं होता
उनके समान हित हैं और घाटा भी
सभी पर जो आलोचना हो रही है वह जायज है
जो काम तेरे लिए किया था वो भी हो गया
डूबते लोग बड़ी शांति से डूब रहे थे
किनारे पर खड़े लोग भी जोर-जोर से चिल्लाने लगे
ट्रेन में दो अजनबियों की तरह
यात्रा में हमारे साथ रहें, तो हम भी करें
बुरे मानसिक छापों के जलने का यही सही अर्थ है
परमेश्वर ने गवाही दी कि कुछ चिन्ह अस्पष्ट थे
यह मेरे होने का संदर्भ है
यही मुझे नीचे लाता है, यही मुझे नीचे लाता है
एक दिन मैं उसी मुल्क में सोऊंगा
मेरे प्यारे भी इस धरती के भरोसे हैं
जो अब अमजद को नहीं पहचानते
कल की बात हमारी भी कुछ लगती थी
